Summary

Nimbus is a privacy-first web browser for Android. The developer does not collect, store, transmit, sell or share any personal data. There are no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporters, no user accounts and no server-side sync. Everything the app stores stays on your device.

Information we collect

None. Nimbus has no servers of its own and never sends your browsing data, history, bookmarks, notes or settings anywhere.

Data stored on your device

Your tabs, history, bookmarks, notes, downloads list, cookies, cache and settings are saved only on your device, in the app's private storage, so the browser can work. You can erase all of it at any time with the Fire button (one tap clears all tabs, history, cookies, cache and site data), with the clear options in Settings, or by clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app. Private tabs leave no trace: nothing from a private tab is written to history, notes or the downloads list.

Websites you visit

When you open a website, that website (and your network provider) can see the requests your browser makes, as with any browser. Nimbus does not control the privacy practices of third-party websites. To reduce tracking, Nimbus ships with uBlock Origin and strict tracking protection on by default, blocks third-party cookies, uses HTTPS-only mode, sends the Global Privacy Control signal and protects against fingerprinting.

Search

The default search engine is DuckDuckGo. Your search terms are sent to the search engine you choose (DuckDuckGo, Brave Search, Startpage, Ecosia, Google or Bing) and are subject to that engine's privacy policy. Secure DNS (DNS-over-HTTPS) resolves domain names through Quad9.

Permissions

Nimbus requests no contacts, no SMS, no phone and no background location access.

Third-party components

Nimbus is built on Mozilla's open-source GeckoView engine and includes the open-source uBlock Origin content blocker. Neither is configured to send telemetry from Nimbus. Filter lists for the blocker may be downloaded from their public sources to keep blocking up to date.

Children

Nimbus collects no information from anyone, including children. As a general-purpose web browser it can reach any website, so parental supervision is recommended for young users.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
